I began writing poems to keep my mental health in order during the Coronavirus pandemic that sent much of the world into lockdown. After completing the National Poetry Writing Month (NaPoWriMo) challenge of penning a poem on each day in April, I used that experience to form my own style. Much of my poetry consists of observations and frustrations that I’ve personally experienced on various topics such as politics, society and even football matches. I hope you can find a piece of yourself in some of them.

Inspired by A.E. Housman’s classic collection A Shropshire Lad, this poetry playlist is an ongoing project with the aim of illustrating 30 poems that cover the 30 years of my life around Shropshire – mainly living in the towns of Telford and Shrewsbury.

Entitled A Shropshire Grad, the main themes running through the playlist are on mental health, social disparity and feelings of entrapment, while I also highlight the stories, events and characters that defined my youth in the county.
